With Microsoft Windows XP you have the ability to install
alternative printer drivers without removing your existing
driver. This can be very useful if you encounter problems
printing reports in IRIS PAYE-Master.
Installing alternative printer drivers have been known to fix
the following problems:
- Unknown characters on reports
- Landscape printing instead of portrait
- Double printing on reports
- Large fonts on reports
- Error messages that mention the printer driver
To navigate to your printer driver properties, click the
Microsoft Windows 'Start' button and select 'Printers &
Faxes'.
Right click on your chosen printer, and select
'Properties'.
Click the 'Advanced' tab and select 'New Driver'.
It is advisable to use a driver above or below the actual
printer driver currently in use. In our experience, the most
successful alternative printer drivers are the HP Laserjet 4 (if you use a laser
printer), or an IBM
Proprinter driver (as an alternative driver for dot matrix
printers).
Once the driver has been selected, click 'Next' to install the
alternative printer driver. Click 'Apply' and in the printer
properties, press OK.
You are now ready to print using the alternative
driver. Launch IRIS PAYE-Master again, and reprint the
report.
