Paying multiple rates of pay

Step 3

Click Pay, and then choose Variations.

On the Pay Table tab, select the pay codes you wish to use in the Pay Code column, and enter the number of hours worked in the Temp Amount column. Ensure that you check the Hours checkbox to the right of the Temp Amount column.

In doing this, the employee will be paid for the hours entered here, at the rate indicated in the Multiple column in Step 1.

You may also wish to put a tick in the On Hold field on the Basic Pay line if you do not wish to display the Basic Pay line on the employee payslip.

IRIS PAYE-Master ButtonSave your entries, and press Close, and calculate your payroll in the usual way.

Check the employee payslip to confirm that your entered rates of pay and hours worked are shown as required.

In the example detailed above, Mr Alan Other will receive the following:

Hours worked x Calculated Pay Rate Gross Pay
40 hours x £7.50/hr £300.00
5 hours x £8.50/hr £38.00
1.75 hours x £9.50/hr £13.48
