To restore a previous
backup file please follow the instructions below:
1. To restore a backup file, select File then Backup and Restore
Data from the menu.
This will open the backup files window as shown below.
In the example shown, we are choosing to restore a backup for
CompanyNumber1. You should ensure that the company you wish
to restore is highlighted in the 'Active Files' list.
You will notice that the Backup Files list shows records of
the backups taken for CompanyNumber1, one of which is shown in
black, the other red. Black indicates that IRIS
PAYE-Master has been able to find the backup file, whilst red
indicates that the backup file taken at an earlier time/date is no
longer available – perhaps manually deleted, or moved in
Windows.
Note: If you back up to a USB
flash drive which isn’t plugged into your USB port at the time of
opening the Backup Files window, the backup files shown in the
Backup Files pane are likely to show in red. If you plug your
flash drive into your USB port whilst the Backup Files window is
open, the colours are not refreshed, although you should still be
able to recover your backup (if it exists in the path recorded by
IRIS PAYE-Master), irrespective of the colour coding. To
refresh the colours, press 'finish', and open the 'Backup
Files' window again.
2. To begin the restoration of your backup, select the backup
file you wish to restore, and press the 'Restore Selected File'
button. Enter your password, and press 'OK'.
Note: If the file you wish to
restore is not listed in the Backup Files pane, ensure that the
correct company is highlighted in the 'Active Files' pane, and
press the 'browse' button. You may then navigate to the
location of your backup using standard Microsoft Windows navigation
techniques, select the file you wish to restore, and press
'open'.
