Avoid floppy disks
We recommend that reliance on floppy disk backups is minimised
as much as possible. We believe this technology to be dated
and, indeed, many modern PCs are not provided with floppy disk
drives.
You may also find, in certain circumstances, that the storage
capacity of floppy disks is less than the size of the backup file
you create with IRIS PAYE-Master payroll software.
Modern media
As an alternative, we recommend that modern media is employed
as the reliability, and storage capacity is considerably
improved. You should consider one or more of the
following:
- USB Flash (pen) drives
- ZIP drives
- CD-R/RW
- DVD-R/RW
- Portable hard disk drives
- A network location
Note: Under
circumstances beyond the control of IRIS PAYE-Master, you may/may
not have the facility to backup directly to your CD drive.
This is not something that has been enabled, or disabled by IRIS,
and is entirely dependent upon your PC configuration. If you
prefer to backup to CD, we recommend that you backup to a location
on your hard disk, and use your standard CD writing software to
copy your IRIS PAYE-Master backups to your CD.
