Making a backup of your data
in IRIS PAYE-Master, just follow the simple steps below:
1. Whilst in IRIS PAYE-Master, select File
then Backup and Restore Data from the
menu.
This will open the backup files window as shown below.
You will notice that the company you
currently have open will be highlighted in the 'Active Files' pane,
whilst any backups taken in IRIS PAYE-Master will be listed in the
'Backup Files' pane. You do not need to be using a particular
file in order to back it up.
Note: If required, you can select another
company in 'Active Files', and back that one up instead.
Ensure that the file you wish to back up is highlighted in
'Active Files', press the 'backup' button to proceed.
2. Save your backup file
You will be taken to the 'Backup' window, which is where you
can navigate to your preferred location for backups. We
recommend that as a reliable alternative to floppy disks, you take
advantage of the vast storage and reliability available with, for
example, USB flash (pen) drives, or ZIP drives. Your local PC
retailer will be able to provide you with more details.

The file name shown is suggested by IRIS PAYE-Master, and may
be overwritten if required. In the example shown above, you will
see that CompanyNumber1 has a backup file listed already. The
file name it suggests for the next backup is a combination of the
company name, and the date that the backup is being
taken.
Backing up to CD
Please note, under circumstances beyond the control of
IRIS PAYE-Master, you may/may not have the facility to backup
directly to your CD drive. This is not something that has
been enabled, or disabled by IRIS, and is entirely dependent upon
your PC configuration. If you prefer to backup to CD, we
recommend that you backup to a location on your hard disk, and use
your standard CD writing software to copy your IRIS PAYE-Master
backups to your CD.
Deleting old backup files
Simply highlight which backup you wish to delete and
select 'Delete Selected Record' and follow the on-screen
prompts.
Note: This does not physically delete the file from your
hard drive.
3. Confirm
Having
confirmed that file name you wish to use, press the 'save' button,
and you will be shown a message confirming that the backup is
complete. Press 'OK'.
You may now press 'finish' to
complete your backing up task, or backup another file.
