1. I am receiving a ‘Cyclic Redundancy’ message
when backing up my data - why is this?
This error message generally indicates a
problem with the hardware, usually the floppy disk. If this occurs
you should close IRIS PAYE-Master, restart your PC and try again.
If the problem persists try using another disk or an alternative
backup media.
2. I am receiving a ‘Field is too small to backup’
message when backing up my data- why is this?
IRIS PAYE-Master will record the backup path
and file name at the point of creating your backup. This error
message may indicate that the location of the backup you are trying
to create is too deep within your folder structure. The software is
restricted to recording path/file names less than or equal to 128
characters in length.
To resolve the issue you could consider
shortening the path and/or file name. Please note that in this
situation, IRIS PAYE-Master will work around the error and attempt
to create the backup. It is recommended that you manually confirm
the backup has been successful; choosing ‘My Computer’ and ‘Windows
Explorer’ and then navigate to the backup path shown by IRIS
PAYE-Master.
3. An error has occurred during backup: 'Backup Failed -
There may be a shortage of space on the media that you are trying
to back up to. Please try backing up to a different media with
adequate space' – what does this mean?
The electronic storage device has insufficient
disk space for the file you are attempting to save a backup to.
If you are using a USB drive and there may be
too much information stored on the root folder. If this is the case
then you need to create a new folder and save the backup files in
this folder – this is not an IRIS PAYE-Master issue, it relates to
the USB drivers structure
You may also wish to consider using
‘Utilities’, ‘Database Maintenance’ and ‘Compact and Repair’ to
compress the size of your datafile. You should also consider
backing up to new or alternative storage device. Another option is
to use the hard disk and transfer to a removable storage device at
a later date.
4. I am receiving a ‘Disk I/O error’ message when backing
up my data- what should I do?
This error message generally indicates a
problem with hardware. You should close IRIS PAYE-Master, restart
your PC and try again. If the problem persists, you should try
another disk.
5. I am receiving a ‘Restore is unsuccessful’ message
(e.g. restore aborted… unable to… etc) when restoring a backup file
- what should I do?
Close IRIS PAYE-Master, restart your PC and
try again.
