Installation FAQs

This section contains FAQs for using IRIS GP Payroll.

IRIS GP Payroll fails to install from the CD or after installation it fails to operate, suggesting that certain modules are not loaded on your computer.

You will have to log on as the Administrator and run IRIS GP Payroll MODULES.EXE on the CD. Your computer will not load certain Windows modules unless you are logged-on as the ‘Administrator’. This small program on the CD will load the required modules.

You wish to transfer IRIS GP Payroll to another computer.

You need the latest IRIS GP Payroll CD and a fresh back up of Payroll data.

You want to link to the Payroll from another PC in the practice network.

Read and/or print the file README.DOC which is on all Payroll CDs. This will explain how to use IRIS GP Payroll INSTALLCLIENT.EXE to create a link.

You want to change the practice name which appears on your payslips.

Send a fax or email to the helpline (0844 815 5681) with the new name for payslips (max 30 characters).  A disc to change the name will be sent by return.

You need to install previous years’ payrolls.

This can be done using Setup/Option screen 15. You may be able to access the last 3 years as they were stored automatically when you upgraded. If IRIS GP Payroll indicates that the data is missing it can be reloaded. For details of loading previous years’ payrolls.

You cannot see all of the Payroll screens - some screens seem too big for your terminal.

IRIS GP Payroll requires the screen resolution to be at least 800x600.

The icon for IRIS GP Payroll has disappeared from the desktop.

If the icon has been deleted by accident it can be re-created. Right-click on a blank part of the desktop. Choose New and then Shortcut. Use the Browse button to find IRIS GP Payroll which is PAYWIN.EXE and is usually found in the C:/Payroll folder. Finish the new icon wizard.
